Description

Starting in the 1960s, Israel began to acquire many U.S. manufactured 1919A4 machine guns that were leftover from World War II, which they modified and converted for use for the next several decades. In the 1990s, many of these 1919A4s were brought back into the United States and sold as parts kit, this being a key example. The right side of the receiver is marked "NO. G4030 U.S. MFR. GGI/ BROWNING SEMI-AUTOMATIC GUN/ U.S. CAL. 308 M1919A7/ SAGINAW STEERING DIVISION/ WAUKESHAM WISCONSIN" followed by a flaming bomb ordnance stamp. Left side bears an Israeli "7.62" stamp followed by the Hebrew letter "H", signifying that this example was converted to fire 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition, with additional Israeli conversion stamps present on the receiver cover, bolt assembly, rear sight leaf, as well as the front of the booster. Complete with an M2 tripod, blued pintle, contemporary linking machine, and an 1919A4 army manual. T&E mechanism is present. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied parkerized finish, showing some areas of wear and handling marks and exhibiting some areas of darker discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting good rifling throughout. Tripod retains most of its reapplied finish, showing some scattered handling and storage marks. A nice GGI manufactured 1919A7, that was formerly in service with Israel's armed forces.
