NATIONAL MATCH BOLT ACTION RIFLE MFG. IN 1937.

Ser. #1498157.

24" star gauged bbl. Marked behind front sight “SA” “flaming bomb” & “4-37”.

Ladder rear sight graduated to 2850 yds. w/ volley notch.

Flat windage & elevation knobs.

Windage knob to be marked w/ “O”.

Blade front sight.

Blade has been reduced in height.

Moveable base marked “2” on right side.

Receiver has “Hatcher hole” on left side.

Receiver rails & top of follower have been polished.

Proof mark is visible in the right receiver rail.

Bridge has been drilled for receiver sight.

Bright bolt is electro-penciled to match.

Bolt is marked on top “N.S.” & marked underneath w/ “3”.

Extractor is polished bright.

Cocking piece has drawing number & marked “CV”.

Cutoff is marked “3” & polished bright on underside.

Grooved trigger.

Matching walnut Type “C” stock set.

Marked w/ boxed “S.A.” & “S.P.G.” on left side.

Marking is slightly faint from hand wear.

Circle “P” proof.

Buttstock has matching S#1498157 at belly ahead of butt swivel; number appears correctly hand stamped. Partly visible drawing number in same area.

Handguard is marked on top “D28179”.

Markings are correct but slightly faint from normal wear.

All milled furniture including coarse checkered trap buttplate.

Well worn commercial Model 1907 sling w/ replacement keepers.

UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked blued steel rear sight protector.

CONDITION: stock set has very good appearance w/ scattered handling marks & light wear from careful use.

Metal has 80% original Parkerized finish w/ light wear & thinning.

Finish has notable wear on side of receiver bridge from past attachment of rear sight, & notable wear on fixed front sight base from sight protector.

Blued parts have very light wear w/ notable spots of oxidation on trigger guard & floorplate.

Bore has strong lands but lightly frosted appearance & showing wear in the throat area.

PROVENANCE: Consignor states rifle was personal property of noted firearms authority & author Lt. Colonel William S. Brophy, USAR Ret.
